Mango - Architecture & Design

Jonathan established Mango Architecture in 2002 with the commission to design Milk & Honey, which has consistently won bar industry awards ever since it opened, including the plaudit of World’s Best Bar. Soon afterwards he joined design agency Odd and worked on a number of commercial and residential projects before returning to solo practice in 2004 to design The Clubhouse in Chamonix, France, dubbed 'the hottest boutique hotel in the Alps' in a feature by The Sunday Times Style Magazine.

More bars followed including projects in London, a luxury ski chalet refurbishment in Argentiere, France, the completion of a luxury villa in Ibiza, and the concept design of a villa development in Sri Lanka for high end holiday company Dynamic Lives.

In late 2008 Match Bar & Grill in Melbourne, Australia opened and was voted Best New Bar at the 2009 Australian Bar Awards. Closely followed by The East Room in London’s Shoreditch, a two floor plus roof garden, bar and restaurant warehouse conversion which won Classic Design of The Year at the 2009 Theme magazine Bar & Restaurant Awards, beating shortlisted projects by David Collins and Ilse Crawford among others.

In 2009 Jonathan worked with Frank Dowling’s Greenwich Inc group, completing Union Square at the O2 Arena and The Battery restaurant at Canary Wharf along with refurbishments of several other Inc Group venues in the O2 and Greenwich. 2010 is looking like an increasingly busy year already with several more projects on the drawing board for Greenwich Inc and the Match Bar Group, the resurrection of the Sri Lankan villa project for Dynamic Lives and following a successful role in the refurbishment of Whisky Mist and Mahiki for Nick House’s NHE group, further involvement in their forthcoming projects, to name just a few.
